François Zille, Visual Anthropologist & Language Engineer,
lands at POLIDesign with his 'SPATIAL' PROJECT N.9
FROM A MAJOR CONSCIENCE OF SPACE
TO A MAJOR SPACE OF CONSCIENCE.
Workshop on hermeneutics and psycho-philosophy applied to design and communication, with and experimental laboratory of comparative and anticipatory planning.
Milano, November 3rd , 2011 - What happens if a culturally elevated martian with a French accent lands on Planet of Design in order to lead a team of young creative terrestrials?
At POLIDesign Consortium of Politecnico di Milano, around which orbit all the spheres of design, professor François Zille has gone well beyond the "here and now", inaugurating the workshop entitled From a major conscience of space to a major space of conscience, with the students of Master LaboratorioMiniera in art direction & copywriting.
Since the early space flights of the '60s to today we have acquired, mission after mission, a greater awareness of space and possibility of life beyond our planet.
Consequently this has resulted in us a greater space of consciousness.
This is the thesis that the eclectic François Zille, who calls himself "troubadour of communication", has chosen to share with the Master LaboratorioMiniera directed by his friend Luigi Ciccognani for "scavare scovando" with the students, that it means "discover by digging": students have to go deep into the planning and "dirtying their hands" by touching all aspects of design in order to elevating their projectuality than those who stop at the surface of human knowledge.
Zille offers to young people accustomed to confront today's challenges in the advertising landscape a visionary research which projects them as explorers of unknown territories in a not too distant future, where the human being lives in space colonies at thousands of miles away from Mother Earth.
The goal of the research is to map the re-connective needs of the spatial inhabitants within the new habitat. Art directors and copywriters, that in a twenty-first century more and more high-tech and bio should act as Visual Anthropologists and Language Engineers, are called to investigate all aspects of design (communication, interior design, urban furnishing, food design, entertainment and so on) to meet old and new needs of stellar communities and find out if and how they change in relation to the place chosen as "home".
Designing for Space to innovate at 360 ° on Earth: only raising the eyes from the narrow horizon of everyday life, expanding exponentially at Infinity the angle of vision and the goals of design & creativity, humanity will make that great leap forward, that will not be the result of small evolutionary steps, but of socio-economic cultural elevation.
A huge goal for a great project, a difficult challenge for students but not impossible.
Who knows how will pray the spaceman ... Dig deep and get a baggage of thousand questions is certainly a good starting point for this pioneering mission.
As François Zille says: "Now fasten your seat belts, and unfastened the chastity belts." Be ready to make a launch towards new areas of research and be fertilized by the projectual & creative elaborations of Master LaboratorioMiniera.
